How To Apply

Qualifications

Applicants to the Piano Technology Program must have graduated from high school (or equivalent), although many have advanced training in music. It is highly recommended that you have at least Royal Conservatory of Music Rudiments or the equivalent.

Application

The Application form may be downloaded by going to http://welcome.uwo.ca/. Please note that the Piano Technology applicants use the Part-time Application form. Please email afleming@uwo.ca to inform the Program that you have forwarded your application. Applications will include transcripts of all previous academic work. You must also complete and return the Piano Technology Program Questionnaire and send it directly to Piano Technology, send to Don Wright Faculty of Music, University of Western Ontario, London, ON N6A 3K7.

Eligibility

Eligibility for the program is based on admissability to the University, and is on the recommendation of the Faculty of Music. Applicants will be interviewed by the selection committee, and must successfully complete hearing and manual dexterity tests. You will be presented with a few tools and, after a demonstration, be asked to repeat a few basic tasks. Applicants must demonstrate knowledge of music theory and the piano keyboard (understanding the rudiments of music theory as notated for and performed on a keyboard instrument).

Enrollment

Enrollment is limited and admission is competitive. Please note that applicants to the Piano Technology program are often accepted well beyond the normal university deadlines for academic programs. For detailed admission counselling and instructions please contact the Program directly at pianotech@uwo.ca or 519-661-3497.
