What The Industry Says About Our Program

  Henry Z. Steinway
Henry Z. Steinway Although long retired from active duty with Steinway & Sons, I would like to express my delight and enthusiasm for your activity in piano technology. No matter what happens in this increasingly electronic world, the piano remains as the foundation of our musical culture. And we all know that the piano must be kept in condition by people dedicated to this craft. Congratulations on taking this demand for training in piano work so seriously, and with all best wishes for success.

Yours, Henry Z. Steinway

Dr. Oscar E. Peterson, CC, LL.D., D. Mus.
Oscar Peterson The art of tuning, voicing and properly caring for the acoustic piano has been, to my way of thinking, suffering greatly of late. It is my profound hope that these courses you intend to offer will reinvigorate the interest in this very necessary field of piano technology, and should interest and encourage many of the younger generation to involve themselves in this very necessary art. You have my full endorsement of this project.

  Berthold Carriere
Berthold Carriere The Stratford Festival has long enjoyed the benefits of a relationship with the University of Western Ontario's Faculty of Music. I am proud to say that I myself am a graduate of the Faculty, as are many on my staff. For more than 25 years, the Stratford Festival has depended upon Don Stephenson to tune and maintain pianos for all of our theatrical and concert needs. In addition, we have been fortunate indeed to have had access to the faculty's collection of keyboards, which contains some of the finest instruments in North America. I am therefore very pleased to see the Faculty of Music embrace the new Piano Technology Program, as it can only serve to strengthen this very necessary aspect of our artistic endeavours. We here at the Stratford Festival would like to offer our heartiest congratulations and support to the new Piano Technology Program and we look forward to continuing our mutually beneficial partnership.

Jim Birch, RPT - Past President of Piano Technicians Guild
Jim Birch - President Piano Technicians Guild I did have the occasion to visit the UWO facility which is part of the Department of Music. There are enough tuning cubicles for each student, and they learn to satisfy the demands of piano majors. The UWO has a selection of pianos that mirrors the various brands seen by technicians on a regular basis in the field. I was impressed with the quality of the students' tunings.

Anne Garee - Florida State University
Anne Garee - Florida State University The University of Western Ontario Piano Technology Program prepares students methodically and comprehensively in an ideal academic setting. Their interaction with pianists and faculty on a daily basis truly sets this program apart. The Master of Arts in Piano Technology Program at the Florida State University College of Music is highly successful because of these graduates.
